| I will call her Daisy (to protect the innocent)… Daisy is one of our most capable and resilient volunteers, a leader in her own right and manages one of Defend’s volunteer projects. And I heard the dismay in her voice – her discovery of an almost unending depth of corruption in our leaders + the covert weaponization of government against Americans and now – !!! |
| What to do? Can we even win? What came up next will surprise you… Daisy and I reflected on what must it have been like for Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego -Three men stuck in a culture hostile to their beliefs. (If this is new to you, click here for the backstory). |
| These three men were also, like Daisy and many of you, committed to doing the right thing. They weren’t willing to give up. They felt that their cause was a righteous cause and for trying to do the right thing – literally standing up and refusing to comply – these three men were sentenced to be executed by being thrown alive into a fiery furnace!! I was not there, but if I was, I would have been hoping that God would have delivered me from a guilty verdict during the sentencing. But that did not happen for these three! I would have then prayed and hoped that God would somehow prevent me from being tied up in ropes and save me from being thrown into the fire. After all, I was standing up for Godly values! Would not God be faithful on my behalf? But that also did not happen! I would have been dismayed, disappointed, dejected and would be second guessing if I had done the right thing. Now, it seemed like all is lost, and that evil was winning. Would I have given up and crumbled? I don’t know. I might have been thinking that all my work, trying to do the right thing seemed to have been for nothing! So there they were, three men tied up and dragged to the furnace. As they were being thrown into the fire, they may have cried in defeat. |
| BUT, it was at that moment, when by all counts, by all reckoning, by all the facts that it was certain that was all was lost that something completely unexpected happened… Instead of some kind of rescue mission, God himself joined the three men in the fire and against all odds, these four overcame the fire! The very thing designed to crush them was, at the last minute, rendered ineffective. |
| So, my friends, I know that you may be in all kinds of emotional and mental states as you see the unending ramping up of bullying and manipulation by our own government against its very own citizens. |
| And I am encouraging you to draw strength from the story of these three men who have walked in our path many years ago. And I encourage you to, like them, perseverance and to not give up, do not take your hand off the plow (click for what Jesus said about persisting 😊 ).
