Speak up to prevent state-sanctioned Physician Assisted Suicide!

The NH House of Representatives will be voting on Physician Assisted Suicide this Thursday, March 20th!Over the weekend, another NH teen took his life, leaving friends and family shocked and horrified. Please pray for all affected! You might ask, what does this have to do with physician assisted suicide (PAS)? If you spend any time with young people, you will find many have been deeply impacted by the scourge of suicide in their generation. Our culture’s lack of reverence for life — its culture of death — normalizes thoughts like, “the world would be better off without me.” Our teens experience firsthand excruciating pain in their hearts when people they know follow this thinking to its ultimate dark conclusion. At the same time, our legislators are reportedly hearing from many supporters of PAS — many even declaring themselves to be Christian pastors and church leaders. By contrast, too few People of Faith are speaking out in opposition. Last year, this bill passed in the House by a mere two votes before being sent to the Senate where it was ultimately defeated. To stop this dangerous bill in the House this year, it’s going to take a groundswell of opposition from People of Faith like you. Find your reps HERE, and ask them to oppose HB 254 today.

Libertarian representatives may be in particular need of logical convincing on this issue. For this group, the argument that legalizing assisted suicide expands the state’s power to transform the “right” to die into the duty to die can be powerful. Referring them to United States Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch’s conclusion that assisted suicide inevitably opens the door to the involuntary slaughter of the sick and dying for financial and other reasons can help underscore this point. In his book The Future of Assisted Suicide and Euthanasia,he documents this conclusion extensively.
