DESCRIPTION:NATIONAL MONUMENT TO THE FOREFATHERS TOUR \nFaith was the driving force of the Pilgrims. This tour highlights the five principles the Pilgrims brought with them that formed the country we have today; one monument\, five statues. \nStanding 81 feet tall\, on a hill in historic Plymouth\, this hidden gem is the largest solid free standing granite monument in our country.\nConstruction began in 1859. Learn who donated $10 to help build it\, how long it took to build\, and who sponsored each statue. \nDon’t just drive by it. Come and learn what each of the five statues represents and the story of how fifty-one Pilgrims formed the country we have today. \nA 45-minute interpretive tour led by our guide in period clothing. Parking is free at the Monument. The tour begins at the Monument on Allerton Street for those with prepaid tickets and a reservation. The Monument is stroller and wheelchair friendly. Reservations are required. \nBrief video of the Forefathers Monument \n\nDISCOVER PLYMOUTH’S HISTORY – A WALKING TOUR \nLearn about the people\, places\, and events of the beginning of our country as you walk where our Forefathers lived and walked hundreds of years ago. What led them to come to America? Is Plymouth Rock really the rock they stepped on? Come find out why we know it is. Tour includes Brewster Gardens\, Plymouth Rock and the historic waterfront area monuments\, Cole’s Hill\, Leyden Street and Town Square. \nA 90-minute interpretive tour led by our guide in period clothing. Free parking in the lot on Spring Lane. \nTour begins at 48 Summer Street at The Jenney. The walk is about a mile and a half. Path is stroller and wheelchair friendly. Comfortable shoes are suggested.
