Important Legislation on education and voting bills week of March 4th

Message from one of our State Representatives…

As a first time state Representative I have learned a lot about the process of getting a bill from an idea to law. It take about 10 steps to get this done and during these steps we the people are allowed to voice our opposition or support for a bill a few times. So, without further to do, here are some very important bills and steps you can do to help make these SUPPORT Ought to Pass (OTP/move the bill forward) or OPPOSE Inexpedient to Legislate (ITL/kill the bill).

These first two bills are very important and we need everyone to attend both HEARINGS. This is work, not easy, but if you don’t do it, the opposition will.

HB1610 relative to standardized assessment data for participants in education freedom accounts. (here is the Bill) https://www.gencourt.state.nh.us/bill_status/pdf.aspx?id=23179&q=billVersion (the bold and strikethrough is what is changing)

In layman’s terms, this bill allows the STATE to intrude upon ALL homeschoolers and private/religious schools and cause all to take a competency test (no exceptions for these groups, only an exception for those attending public or charter schools) for English, Math and Science once in Elementary, Middle and High Schools costing the state about 2.5 million each year.

This may not seem like a big deal, but it is intrusion on private citizens lives (Part 1 Article 2-b RIGHT to PRIVACY). If this bill passes (democrat sponsored bill) then the Education Freedom Accounts (EFA) may come to an end because people value their privacy over money especially in these days where public schools are failing us in many ways.

WHAT YOU CAN DO;

Oppose this bill by coming to the Education committee hearing this week and speak if you want to or hold a small sign opposing HB1610 (save education freedom accounts and protect privacy) in the audience or even outside the building

Attend the public Hearing: MONDAY, 03/04/2024 12:30 pm Legislative Office Building (LOB) 205-207

Email the entire Education Committee HouseEducationCommittee@leg.state.nh.us

HB 1093, prohibiting mandatory mask policies in schools (here is the bill)  https://www.gencourt.state.nh.us/bill_status/pdf.aspx?id=20231&q=billVersion

In layman’s terms, this bill restricts requiring students or members of the public to wear a facial covering for any purpose while on the school’s property

WHAT YOU CAN DO;

Support this bill by coming to the Education committee hearing this week and speak if you want to or hold a small sign Supporting HB1093 (prevent masking of students and guest on school property) in the audience or even outside the building

Attend the public Hearing: Tuesday, 03/05/2024 1:00 pm Legislative Office Building (LOB) 205-207

In layman’s terms, this is a parental rights bill that we want the voters of NH to weigh in on if parental rights should be added into the NH constitution. It takes 2/3 majority to pass the house/senate and then Governor signs it and it will be on the ballot in November.

In layman’s terms, this allows for licensing aliens but to get a license for the time they are here but also prohibits the license being used for voter purposes and will have marking to indicate this is an alien license only, not for voting use.
