Dear Friends,

It’s hard to imagine it’s almost 2025 and it will be a few short months until Town Meeting time. We are still interested in preserving the single-family zoning in our towns. Here is the schedule for submitting amendments.

Zoning Amendment Calendars (2025)
Traditional Town Meeting
Traditional – March
Traditional – May

Official Ballot (“SB2”) Town Meeting
SB2 – March
SB2 – April
SB2 – May

We have been promised  a copy of any amendments our planning board might  be going to submit. We are not sure if there is a need to submit anything at this time.

At the state level, word has it the legislature is going to go full bore on “housing DEI” as we like to call it,  in the upcoming session. And since they elected a Speaker who not only supports this removal of your choices, and who has also refused to take even the most basic anti-broadbased tax Pledge, we may be in for a fight. One of the authors of some of the past bills lost his primary. (Yokela) Fortunately 5 of our 7 elected Bedford State Representatives are committed to preserving local control.

We have already pushed back against the creation of another committee (by voice vote!) which is basically a lobbying group that intends to insure the rubber stamping of these egregious bills.

As usual, we will monitor LSRs for 2025 for anything that might be of concern to  the taxpayers.

You can monitor proposed bills here:

Our Bill Watch page will be updated with information for 2025 as it becomes available.

BRA wishes you and all our friends in the neighboring towns the
Merriest of Christmases and a Happy and Healthy  New Year.
