As you know, property taxes went through the roof and many face the potential of losing their homes or having to move. The ever growing school budgets with the declining enrollments are the largest contributor ( along with unlawful property assessments!) The way we combat this is by capping the school budgets and a bill was passed last year to allow towns to do this. ( article from Granite Grok attached)
There are the sample warrant articles you can copy to cap the school budget in your towns using the Kensington example with SAU 16 as well. Kensington has a separate grammar school so needed to cut the numbers for the town and SAU. I have attached the official NH department of education NH cost per pupil by town/SAU as well so you can use this- It is our understanding that and SAU needs a TOTAL of 25 signatures to have this on the towns ballot but please confirm with your town.
If you can get 25 signatures we can perhaps help people save their homes!
We need to get #25 LOCAL SIGNATURES this done before 4pm – Jan 7 TUES ( SB2 – Deadline)
Or the following Tues 14th if NOT SB2
